    Summer Reading List

With the beginning of summer upon us I am looking at it as a great opportunity to catch up on my reading. I am an avid reader and unfortunately lately I have been finding it difficult to find time to devote to reading. I am not sure why, I just can’t seem to pick up a book and become completely engrossed in it like I love to do. I have a list of books that I had been looking forward to reading and maybe if I write them down here it will make me more accountable to devoting the time to do it.  I am also looking at a trip to Michigan within the next couple of weeks and while I am there I won’t have internet connection unless I find somewhere that has free wifi, as my elderly Mother doesn’t have internet and has never even owned a computer of any kind. So I will be unplugged for about 2 weeks or so.  I am hoping to get a good amount of reading done in between my projects that i have to work on at my Mom’s house.

    Summer Reading List

    War Storm: Victoria Aveyard

    Shelter In Place: Nora Roberts

    High Voltage: Karen Marie Moning

    The Cast: Danielle Steel

    The Fates Divide: Veronica Roth

    Off Kilter: Hannah Reed

    Hooked on Ewe: Hannah Reed

    Blueberry Muffin Murder: Joanne Fluke

Lemon Meringue Pie Murder: Joanne Fluke

I know this is a big list, and I know I haven’t been able to get into reading lately. But I love reading and I really hope that once I am in Michigan and I get my Mother settled my mind will relax a bit and I will be able to finally enjoy a book or 2.

    What I Am Reading

    Strawberry Shortcake Murder
    By
    Joanne Fluke

    Strawberry Shortcake Murder

After finally finishing my last book I am ready for some light reading. Right now I am reading the second book in Joanne Fluke’s Hanna Swensen Mystery Series.

I really struggled to stay focused on my last book choice (read about it here) I decided to keep it simple this time. I enjoyed the first book in this series and really could just sit back and enjoy the book and not really have to think to much about anything but enjoying the story and watching it unfold. I am really hoping for that again.

The main character in this series owns her own little shop called “The Cookie Jar”. Somehow in this small town she always seems to find herself right in the middle of a murder investigation. If this sounds familiar it’s because the Hallmark Murders & Mysteries channel has turned this into a tv movie series which is pretty good.

One fun note about the books in this series is the author also includes several baking recipes throughout the book. Some of them look pretty good.

    What I Just Finished Reading

    Accidental Hero’s
    By
    Danielle Steel

    Accidental Heros

As always Danielle Steel writes another good book. I have been reading Danielle Steel books for what seems like forever. I always enjoy them and never really have to do alot of thinking when I read them. I can pick up a book and read it in a couple of days and enjoy it the entire time and do nothing but enjoy it. This book was no different. It was well written and had very likeable characters.
The premise behind the book is one that is very relatable in this time in the history of our country and many others.
It begins with a TSA agent who finds something as simple as a postcard with an inscription on the back. Her instincts tell her it could be something but she struggles with her choice of whether or not to bring it to the attention on her supervisors. She decides that she cannot just do nothing even if she is wrong just in case something really was wrong.
It turns out that she isn’t wrong and her one act and the actions of several other charcters save the lives of an entire flight. You see people coming together to help each other and to try to make sure that everyone comes home. You see that anyone can be a hero, it just depends on the choices you make and actions you take.
All in all this was a pretty good book. It was a very typical Danielle Steel book. Her books all are written very similarly, I feel that they are well researched and she has great characters and villians. I always buy her new releases and am never dissappointed.

    What I Am Reading Now
    The Sixth Day
    By
    Catherine Coulter & J.T. Ellison

    The Sixth Day

This is the fifth book in the Brit in the FBI Thriller series. This book series centers around two main characters: Nicholas Drummond and Michaela “Mike” Caine. This series is a combination between a thriller and a mystery and so far the series has been pretty good.
I tend to like to switch up my genre’s and since I just finished a Danielle Steel book I figured it was time for something that makes me think a bit to try to figure out where the story will go next and what the ultimate outcome will be. I love Catherine Coulter as a writer and this series doesn’t dissappoint me at all.
